Oakwood Elementary Expansion

Creating space to support expanded educational programming and a growing school.

IMG 0218

The goal of the Oakwood Elementary expansion project was to support added early childhood educational programming and increase capacity for future enrollment growth. The two-story addition houses the Wayzata Early Learning School and offices, bringing all the staff and students for early learning into one location. The architectural and design vision was led by the team at Wold Architects.

To best support staff and faculty, the team at Oakwood sought a partner that could deliver furniture, modular walls, and sound-masking to enhance the expansion space. Intereum's integrated, in-house teams were a natural fit for the project. Maars Horizon glass fronts were used on private offices to bring natural light into the space, while Metaline partitions separate the offices. Our AV experts were able to deploy zoned sound-masking that works in tandem with the modular walls to deliver superior audio privacy to these focus spaces. Our team utilized easy-to-move collaborative furniture options for open areas to support a diverse array of activities from group meetings and presentations to focused work and 1-on-1s.

Ultimately, the expansion project created supportive spaces for programs including: preschool, early childhood family education, early childhood special education, early childhood screening and adult basic education, as well as the offices for the administrative teams.
